World Bee Day 2022

Did you know that today - the 20th May is world bee day?

Today we celebrate all things bee and the wonderful things that these little creatures do for our planet.

Here are some facts about bees:

🐝 There is no life without bees.

🐝 Every third spoonful of food depends on pollination and bees are some of the most important pollinators. Bees help pollinate 75% of all leading global crops.

🐝 In order to produce a kilogram of honey, a bee has to visit four million flowers and fly around 90,000 miles.

🐝 Close to one million bees are facing extinction.

🐝 The honey bee is the only insect that produces food eaten by humans.

🐝 It takes one ounce of honey to fuel a bees flight around the world.

🐝 Bees have 4 wings.

🐝 Bees communicate through dance - it is called the waggle dance! They do this to tell one another the best places to look for food!

How can you help?
